Code of Conduct
Vintage Rhythm is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable dance experience for everyone, therefore, all attendees, instructors, staff, and volunteers are required to comply with the following code of conduct. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everyone.
DECLARATION OF SAFER SPACE
Vintage Rhythm is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery in social situations is not appropriate for any event venue, including dances, classes, workshops, competitions, Facebook, and other online media. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled without a refund at the discretion of the organizers.
CODE OF CONDUCT IN DETAIL
No forms of harassment will be tolerated. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments (related to gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion), sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of classes, workshops, or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion with no refund.
Please be aware of your boundaries and physical needs. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, are aware of behaviors that violate this code of conduct, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of staff immediately using one of the methods below. Staff will be happy to help participants contact the organizers or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the class or event. We also strongly urge you, when it is safe to do so, to take it upon yourself to speak up if you witness something destructive or demeaning. While the social risks of speaking up may feel high, your willingness to speak up can help create an environment of positive social pressure that benefits the community and is impossible for the organizers to generate single-handedly. With that in mind, should someone raise an issue with your behavior, listen gracefully and be willing to learn. You may not be aware of how your behavior is impacting others, and the information could be very beneficial to you and our dance community.
We value your attendance and your safety and expect all participants to follow these rules at class and event venues.

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS
As business owners we can and will involve ourselves in all of the harassment/discrimination issues listed above, particularly if they occur on the premises. We cannot, however, get involved in interpersonal issues and feuds. Furthermore, it is important for complainants to understand that, while we take action on issues of harassment, we cannot act as a personal support network, and are not trained therapists or social workers. If you are in need of this type of support, please contact a professional who specializes in these area.
